    Year-End Giving
We are almost to the end of 2011 and this is a reminder that all Active and Wider Grail members are required to make a financial contribution to the Grail every year. There is no set or recommended amount, but even a small gift provides evidence of the value that the Grail provides to you. And it helps to ensure the future of the movement from which you’ve gained so much. Contributions for 2011 must be postmarked by December 31 and they can also be made by online by credit card on the Grail’s website, https://www.grail-us.org/contribute/. If you have any questions or would feel more comfortable making a credit cared contribution over the phone, don’t hesitate to call us at (513) 683-5750.
Bookkeeper for Grailville When Becky Hill moves into her new role as Director of Grailville, it will leave an opening for a part-time, skilled bookkeeper with extensive experience with QuickBooks. Grailville, Cornwall and the National office are all now using the same system so it will be important to have someone in place who knows her way around it. If you know of anyone with the skills and experience we’re looking for, please have them send an resume to Becky Hill, rakhill@yahoo.com. We will have the job description available soon.
Holiday Schedule: Publications and the National Office
Due to the way the holidays fall this year, the National Grail News will be published next Thursday, December 22, because the 23rd is the Grail’s official Christmas Eve holiday. There will be no National Grail News on December 30, (the official Grail New Year’s Eve), but we will resume the normal schedule in January. Gumbo will be published January 6 and the deadline for submissions remains Friday, December 30.
The national office will be closed December 23, 26 and 30 and January 2 and will be very lightly staffed between the holidays. Regular schedules resume on January 3.
    In Loving Memory:
§ Marieke van der Grinten, December 30, 1931 – December 6, 2011, Phily van Dijck, from the Grail in the Netherlands, writes that a few years ago Marieke underwent surgery for intestinal cancer, but she did not really recuperate afterwards. Little by little symptoms of her illness returned. At the end of October Marieke was admitted in a hospice where she consciously prepared for the last part of her life’s journey here on earth. Late in the evening of 6th December she passed quietly away. In the fifties and sixties of last century Marieke lived at the Tiltenberg. She spent a long time at the Ark, took care of the guests and was also the director of the choir. Later on she studied theology and moved to the south of the country, where her parents had lived. She worked still several years as a librarian. Education and study for women was very important to her and she supported this where possible. There was a service of thanksgiving for Marieke’s life on Wednesday, December 14th in Venlo, where she will be buried in the tomb of her parents. Please remember Marieke in your thoughts and prayers.
§ Theresa Gule, Albina Namuesh with the PNG Grail writes that Theresa was called to be with the Lord on Thursday 8/12/2011, at 1:00 am on the Feast-Day of our Lady of Immaculate Conception. Albina continues that Theresa had an outstanding personality and cheerfulness, she was a woman of culture, and very hospitable. She ran an elementary school for the Grail called St Michaels, at Mission compound next to St Mary’s community school. Most of the students from her school have made it to senior grades. Theresa was outspoken in HIV & AIDS awareness. And now, The Lord is welcoming her for eternal rest. It is a great loss to her Grail sisters, her family, school, church and community. We pray for peace and healing to the family at this time of mourning, especially for husband Caspar Gule & her children.
